The M-BRRACE UK 2018 report stated that Black women are 5x more likely to die during pregnancy, childbirth and in the postnatal period than White women and Asian women are twice as likely to die.

On top of this 1 in 10 women experience postnatal depression after having their baby and we are not sure about the figures for Black women of African descent.

Maternity Engagement Action aims to turn these statistics into a collection of voices and bring them to the table of service providers and those who are tasked with finding solutions to these problems.
